Floratio

Formed from inspiration gathered since 2022, the series Floratio was created spontaneously. It consists of three sculptures inspired by the blooming process of a plant. Moving from a leaf --> to flower bud --> to a flower in full bloom. The works incorporate details from several of my previous pieces, now brought together with the theme of growth and transformation.

Beyond visualizing the blooming process, this series also served as a material study. I explored different types of clay, coloring details using engobes, and finished the pieces with glaze. This marked the beginning of a new working method within my practice.

During the weekend of October 11 and 12, I participated in the Atelierroute Utrecht Oost together with my father. It was a special opportunity to exhibit our work side by side for the first time. We were curious to discover whether any similarities would emerge between our pieces. Despite working with different sources of inspiration and distinct media, from pastel drawings to ceramics, both subtle and surprising connections became visible.
